T-Feet

Being anthropoids, our primary viewpoint is five feet + from the ground and normally straight ahead. Unless we walk with our head down looking at the ground, as we go through our daily lives, we miss seeing the plethora of footwear belonging to our fellow anthrpoids.

Traveling the "T" (subway) in Boston offers a rare opportunity peruse passenger's footwear. When I first really paid attention to the array of footwear, I saw a virtual infinite variety--no two passengers footwear was the same. There were all shapes, sizes, and yes, color--even for men. Gone are the days where the footwear of men was limited to black or brown leather shoes. Although in mostly professional working environments women still wear "dress shoes", their footwear en route is usually very casual. This has been the case for several decades, in Boston anyway, and is partly due to the winter weather and the hazards of wearing "dress shoes" while navigating the "T".

This photographic excursion is a brief look at the footwear of MBTA, "T", riders. I discovered that the winter provides the most interesting array of footwear, particularly among women, so there are many more examples of winter footwear. Anyway, its all interesting and colorful.
