Around The Island

North Haven Island is twelve miles from Rockland Maine in Penobscott Bay. The ninety minute ferry ride from Rockland is a time machine that transports you to an earlier time where the pace of life is slower and you know your neighbors. North Haven is called home by about 350 year around hearty souls. In the summer the population can balloon to a few thousand inhabitants seeking respite from the always-connected 24-7 world. A "magical island, visually rich with seascapes, lobster boats, classic Maine architecture, and calming landscapes.

I have been photographing on North Haven for about a decade. The Island is ever changing, never static, and when I visit familiar places in the day or night, summer or winter, it offers up yet another unique view. These photographs are just a minute sampling of North Haven and its beauty. [Around the Island appeared as a show in the North Haven Gallery, July 2009.]
