San Francisco de Asisi Church, Rancho de Taos New Mexico

San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos New Mexico is probably the most photographed and painted church in the Southwest US. It has been photographed by the likes of Paul Strand and Ansel Adams, and painted by Georgia O'Keefe, among others. The Church is resurfaced in new adobe every few years, so the details of its shape change over time. The surface is "living", and supports grass on some of its sloped surfaces. The captivating surface textures are revealed by the afternoon sun under the highly chromatic New Mexico blue sky.

The popular iconic photographs are of the back of the Church, but like any building, it has four sides. I have always wondered what the complete Church actually looked like. So, here are some views of the sides seldom seen.
